The Vancouver Public Library Foundation (VPLF) was established in 1997 to enhance the programs, collections, services, and spaces of the Vancouver Public Library; programs and spaces for everyone in our community.

Vancouver Public Library (VPL) was founded in 1887 and is the third largest public library system in Canada. Across its 21 locations, VPL is the most-visited major urban library per capita in the country. With more than 6.9 million visits last year, Vancouver Public Library is a destination, a community, a facilitator, a resource, an innovator and an enabler. And free – always free. The Vancouver Public Library Foundation is proud to support the Library’s successful history of providing services, programs and resources to community members across the City.

On behalf of the Vancouver Public Library Foundation Board of Directors, Boyden is presently seeking individuals to join the VPLF Board of Directors. In this capacity, you will be responsible for oversight of the management of VPLF’s affairs, dependably acting in the best interests of the broader organization while upholding the highest level of integrity and professionalism.

As a private, public sector or a non-profit leader, you have demonstrated your ability working both at a strategic and senior level within community-focused organizations or at other organizations with a citizen-centred approach to governance. You will possess sound decision making and an understanding of and experience with community engagement and leadership with a not-for-profit or charity. The strongest candidates will bring successful leadership roles and board experience in a fundraising environment.

As a community-oriented individual, you are passionate for the VPLF’s mission and are committed to the VPLF’s strategic priorities, values, its diversity of perspectives and the communities it serves.
