We are thrilled to announce an incredible gift from the Montalbano Family towards our Storeys That Transform Expansion Campaign. Dana and John Montalbano believe strongly that Vancouver Public Library is the great equalizer in our community – every service is free and all users are treated equally, regardless of their background or life circumstances. What is more, John has been a life-long user of VPL – it is within its walls that he and his sister, Susanna, learned English, as their newly arrived Italian-Canadian parents could not teach them.

John also generously volunteers his time as Chair of VPL Foundation’s Campaign Cabinet, providing invaluable leadership and insight as VPLF raises $15 million for the expansion and renewal of the Central Branch.

John and Dana’s generous gift will establish the Montalbano Family Theatre in the new 8th floor expansion which will be opening later this year. This 77-seat theatre will offer an intimate and compelling venue for screenings and performances, giving VPL’s patrons a chance to have an in-depth look at some fascinating artistic work.

From everyone at Vancouver Public Library Foundation, thank you to the Montalbano Family for this amazing gift, and for helping VPL realize its vision of transforming into a place where everyone can realize their full potential.
