The Central Library has served Vancouver well for over 20 years as a nexus for learning, engagement, social activities, creativity and entertainment, drawing more than two million visits a year – 6,000 people per day.
But much has changed – in Vancouver and the world – since the Central Library opened in 1995. This library has brought a unique focal point to the city core and sparked a revitalization that has turned the neighbourhood into a destination that thrives on knowledge, culture and learning.
The Central Library was designed and destined to be the iconic hub of a great community and a great city, knowing that one day, it would need to expand as Vancouver continued to grow. This day has now arrived.
